General Questions

What is therapy like at Heart & Vine?
Sessions are collaborative and conversational. We'll work together to understand what's bringing you in, set meaningful goals, and build practical skills you can use between sessions.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some clients see meaningful progress in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes — with a few legally required exceptions: imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order. These will be explained in detail during your first session.

Getting Started & Logistics

How do I get started?
Reach out via the contact form or call/email directly. I'll respond within 2–3 business days. If we decide to move forward, I'll send a Client Portal invitation to complete intake paperwork and schedule your first session.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available to anyone located in Iowa at the time of their session, via a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform through the TherapyNotes Client Portal.
Where is your office located?
19 E Howard St A, Colfax, Iowa 50054 — approximately 25–30 minutes east of Des Moines via I-80.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule without charge. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee.

Fees & Insurance

How much does therapy cost?
The initial intake session (60 min) is $200. Ongoing individual sessions (50 min) are $150.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! Heart & Vine accepts most major insurance plans and is working on being able to accept even more! If your insurance is currently out-of-network (private pay), a Superbill can be provided for submission to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit card, debit card, HSA, and FSA are all accepted through the secure Client Portal.

Approach & Specialties

What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach that teaches four core skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Do I have to be religious to work with you?
Absolutely not. Faith integration is always optional and client-led. All beliefs and backgrounds are warmly welcomed.
Do you work with teens?
Yes — Adrian works with adolescents ages 10 and up, using the same evidence-based approaches as adult therapy, adapted for developmental stage.
